More than 100 adult volunteers served as mentors to nearly 370 youth enrolled in 17 community 4-H clubs in Putnam County.   Classroom presentations about the harmful effects of smokeless tobacco use were presented to every third-grader in the county (1,820 students).   A total of 150 youth participating in the county 4-H livestock program gained skills in raising, fitting, grooming, showing, and selling their animals.  The 4-H livestock auction raised $156,800.    Training in agriculture, economic development, and natural resources drew 2,340 participants in 2003.    Almost 600 kindergarten through third grade students and 27 teachers participated in "Just for Kids, Marking Food Choices," an activity-packed nutrition education curriculum developed by Agent Summers.   1,300 children and adults participated in the "Germ City" interactive hand-washing education program in 2003..    Members of the Community Educational Outreach Service improve the lives of families by volunteering for and sponsoring many community projects.    During 2003, the PSWA removed trash along 180 miles of roadway.
